उत्तराखंड के पंच प्रयाग Panch Prayag in Uttarakhand
उत्तराखंड के पंच प्रयाग: विष्णुप्रयाग, नंदप्रयाग, कर्णप्रयाग, रुद्रप्रयाग और देवप्रयाग। उत्तराखंड के प्रसिद्ध पंच प्रयाग देवप्रयाग, रुद्रप्रयाग, कर्णप्रयाग, नन्दप्रयाग, तथा विष्णुप्रयाग मुख्य नदियों के संगम पर स्थित हैं। नदियों का संगम भारत में बहुत ही पवित्र माना जाता है विशेषत: इसलिए कि नदियां देवी का रूप मानी जाती हैं।
प्रयाग में गंगा, यमुना और सरस्वती के संगम के बाद गढ़वाल-हिमालय के क्षेत्र के संगमों को सबसे पवित्र माना जाता है, क्योंकि गंगा, यमुना और उनकी सहायक नदियों का यही उद्गम स्थल है। जिन जगहों पर इनका संगम होता है उन्हें प्रमुख तीर्थ माना जाता है। यहीं पर श्राद्ध के संस्कार होते हैं।
प्रयाग में गंगा, यमुना और सरस्वती के संगम के बाद गढ़वाल-हिमालय के क्षेत्र के संगमों को सबसे पवित्र माना जाता है, क्योंकि गंगा, यमुना और उनकी सहायक नदियों का यही उद्गम स्थल है। जिन जगहों पर इनका संगम होता है उन्हें प्रमुख तीर्थ माना जाता है। यहीं पर श्राद्ध के संस्कार होते हैं।
- विष्णुप्रयाग धौली गंगा तथा अलकनंदा
- नन्दप्रयाग नन्दाकिनी तथा अलकनंदा
- कर्णप्रयाग अलकनंदा तथा पिण्डर
- रुद्रप्रयाग मन्दाकिनी तथा अलकनंदा
- देवप्रयाग अलकनंदा तथा भगीरथी
Prayag in Hindu tradition signifies confluence of two or more rivers where ablutions (bathing) before worship, religious rites called the Shraddha (the last rites) for the departed and worship of the river itself as the manifestation of God are a prevalent practice. While the Prayag at Allahabad, where the three rivers namely, the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the Saraswati confluence,is considered the holiest, the Panch Prayag of Garhwal Himalayas is the next in the order of piety.
The Prayag are rich not only with stories from Puranas and legend but also in the scenic beauty of the Himalayan snow-covered peaks and enchanting valleys. we also deduce it that the Panch Prayag on the road to Badrinath refers to theSvargarohana (ascend to heaven) route followed by the Pandavas to attain salvation after they completed circumambulation of the earth.
